Why Drifter exists

Traffic still matters. But it no longer tells the whole story.

Travelers increasingly ask AI where to go, stay, meet, and visit. They may receive a useful answer before they reach an official website.

That changes the marketer's job. The goal is not only to earn the visit. It is to make sure AI has accurate, distinctive, and useful official stories to synthesize.

Drifter takes on the repetitive work of checking those answers, finding what is missing, and preparing the next step. Marketers keep the context, judgment, and final approval.

What Drifter does

One product, from the first free read to published work your team approved.

See the full product
  • Free AI Snapshot

A free first read of how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity answer discovery questions about your place, with the sources behind each answer.

  • Weekly AI visibility reports

A steady weekly read of the questions travelers ask, showing how often you appear and which sources AI relies on. Paid plans also monitor Google AI Overviews.

  • Prioritized actions

The gaps become a short list of what to fix first, each tied to its evidence. Content work goes to your writers as a brief, and technical fixes go to IT as a handoff.

  • Ready drafts and reviewed publishing

Drifter prepares ready drafts, shaped toward your site's tone when website samples are available. Approved work publishes as a Drifter-hosted source page or through your own workflow, and Drifter verifies that it is live.

  • Partner Intelligence

See every place AI recommends around you, from hotels to attractions, and where official sources show up beside them in the same answers.

Also part of Drifter

  • Spotlights

Point the same monitoring at an event, a season, an audience, or a topic when a moment needs extra attention.

  • On-site planning

An optional AI planning experience on your own website, so visitors keep discovering places and building itineraries with you.

What makes Drifter different

Four choices about how Drifter works, and one rule about who decides.

Built for places, not brands

Most AI visibility tools were built to track consumer brands. Drifter follows how travelers choose places: the trip, the season, the geography, and the markets your visitors come from.

It asks what travelers ask

Drifter tests the open-ended questions travelers ask before they have picked a place, not only questions that already name you. That shows whether AI brings you up while the decision is still open.

Every finding has a receipt

Each finding keeps the question, the answer, the engine, the date, and the sources behind it. Your team can check the evidence instead of taking a score on faith.

Work, not just a score

A one-time score shows a single moment. Drifter checks every week and turns what is missing into content briefs, technical handoffs, and ready drafts.

Nothing ships without you

Drifter prepares the work. Your team edits it, approves it, and decides what gets published.

The last step before any page Drifter hosts goes live.

Aaron Tsai, founder and CEO

Aaron Tsai is the founder and CEO of Drifter, an AI visibility platform for destinations and hospitality organizations. Drifter grew out of hundreds of conversations with destination teams about how AI is changing travel discovery.

Over the past decade, he has built companies across public relations, media technology, and AI software, including Bullpen.co, combining communications strategy with product development and engineering. Two of the products he built reached a $1M annual revenue run-rate.

His work now focuses on AI visibility, answer engine optimization (AEO), and generative engine optimization (GEO) for destinations and hospitality. He trained in biochemistry at UC San Diego and conducted cancer biology research at Moores Cancer Center, published in Science Signaling in 2015.

Why I built Drifter.

I've watched social media and mass tourism concentrate attention on a handful of obvious winners while smaller places get buried. AI is about to do the same thing, faster.

Search helped people find places. Today, AI helps people choose places. Drifter gives serious places a way to be understood before that layer hardens.
